News Feeds
Adding News Feeds to your site.

1st, you’ll need to find some news feeds to use on your site. Use a search engine like Google to search for news feeds on your topic. For instance; if you had a website about Green Housekeeping, you may want to display news stories about ‘Green Business’, ‘Green Cleaning Products’ or ‘Going Green’. You would then search for things like ‘Green Business News RSS feeds’, ‘Going Green News RSS’ or ‘Green Cleaning Products RSS’.
Once you find the RSS feed, copy the address of the actual feed and save it to a text file.

Go back to your site.
If you don’t see ‘Feed Aggregator’ in your Navigation menu, you’ll need to activate the Aggregator module. Go to Administer—Site Building—Modules
Check the ‘Enabled’ box next to ‘Aggregator’ and click ‘Save Configuration’ at the bottom of the page.

Now to set up the Aggregator:
Go to Administer—Content Management—Feed Aggregator
If you plan on adding more than one feed, you may want to start by adding Categories for the feeds.
Next, add a feed. Enter the title and URL of the feed (the address of the feed that you copied and saved to a text file earlier).
Set the Update Interval to 1 hour or more. Anything more frequent than that is impolite.
Check the category this feed to be in, if you set up categories.

Click the List Button (at the top of the page)
Click ‘Update Items’ to populate your feed.

Now, go to Administer—Site Building—Blocks
To determine where the feed will be displayed.
If you set up categories, select the category; otherwise select the news feed from the disabled list. Use the ‘region’ drop down list to select the place on the website to display the feed/feed category.
Usually looks best in the side columns.
If you want the news to appear on a particular web page, select ‘content’
Click ‘Save Blocks’.

To make the news appear on a particular web page, you’ll now need to specify which page. Click ‘Configure’ next to the feed name in the blocks list.
Under the last field, “Page Specific Visibility Settings’;
Enter the name of the page for it to appear on. (enter <front> for the home page).
