Adding Products

  • Add a product to your catalog
  • Log into your admin
  • Make sure you’ve added a product category before adding products.
    • See ‘Categories’ in your instructions package
    • You can always move products into categories later.
    • You can display the same product in multiple categories.
  • Go to ‘Catalog’--> ‘Categories/Products’
  • Select the category to enter the new product in using the drop down menu ‘Goto:’
  • Click the ‘New Product’ button.
  • If the product is not yet available, you can select, ‘out of stock’ and then come back and change this setting when the product is available.
    • If you set your cart to allow customers to purchase or view out of stock products (in ‘Configuration'-->’Stock’-->'Product Status' in Catalog…), you can enter the date the product will become available so the customer will know when to expect it.
  • Select  from the ‘Manufacturers’ drop down menu if you’ve set this up.
    • Manufacturers is set up the same way as Categories under
      ‘Catalog'-->Manufacturers.
  • Enter the product name
  • If the product has attributes or options that affect the price of the product,
    see ‘Priced_By_Attributes’ in your instructions package.

  • If you collect sales tax and this product is a taxable item, select ‘Taxable Goods’ from the ‘Tax Class’ drop down menu.
  • Enter the base price of the product in ‘Products Price (Net):’
  • Price with tax is automatically displayed in ‘Products Price (Gross):’
  • Select the next 3 options (Virtual, Free Shipping and Quantity Box) based on the properties of this product.
  • If a customer must purchase a minimum quantity, enter it under ‘Product Qty Minimum:’
  • If there is a limit to the quantity a customer can purchase, enter it under ‘Product Qty Maximum’.
  • If this product is sold in groups like 10 to a package, enter the number here.
  • Leave Product Min/Unit Mix marked as ‘Yes’, unless the product is sold in groups but with no minimum.
  • Enter a product description. You can create detailed descriptions with all the same formatting and styles as a Microsoft Word document (bold, italics, font styles, colors, tables, images, etc.) See ‘FCK_editor’ in your instructions package.
  • If you’re tracking stock levels, enter the quantity of this product currently in stock under ‘Products Quantity’. Otherwise, leave this blank.
  • Enter the product model number under ‘Products Model’.
  • Product Images
    • An image can be loaded here, but it's best to skip this and add your images through the Image Handler after adding your product.
    • See ‘Images’ for Image Handler Instructions.
  • Products URL field can be left blank.
    • If you have an online article about this product with helpful additional info, enter the address of that webpage here.
  • If you’re using product weight to calculate shipping, enter the weight of the product (with packaging) here. Otherwise, leave this blank.
  • If you wish to customize the order in which products in this category are displayed, enter the sort order for this product under ‘Sort Order’. Otherwise, leave this blank and they will be displayed Alphabetically.
  • Click ‘Preview’
  • If everything looks correct, Click ‘Insert’.
