Adding Images
- Image File Names: before proceeding, check your image file names on your computer. Go to wherever you store your images on your computer. Images file names should not contain punctuation or spaces. Use only letters, numbers and underscores and try to keep filenames short. These are good practices for naming any kind of file. For Example;
- Good file name: wedding_photo23.jpg
- Bad file name: john & judy’s wedding photo # 23.jpg
- DON’T GET SUED!
- The days of using images without permission are over.
- If you didn’t create the image, make sure you have permission to use it on your website.
- Photos of people require permission from the people in the photo before posting on your site (unless your site is all News and non-commercial). Just because you took the photo of the person doesn’t mean you have the right to use it on your site,
- Don’t think you won’t get caught! There are programs out there that embed invisible copyright info in images and then scour the Internet to find unauthorized use of the images, then they report back to the owners of the images and then you get a letter from a law firm. YES, this has happened to our clients.

- Width and Height: don’t change these here, if you need a different image size, go back to the image editor by clicking ‘Browse Server’.
- Border: images usually look best without a border, set to zero.
- Hspace, Vspace: creates a buffer between image and text (or whatever is next to the image. Usually looks best between 3 and 5.
- Align: very important for layout positioning. Causes text to wrap around the image. Align Left usually looks best, but align Right can be good in some instances. After this is set you can drag the image around to where you want it on the page, usually best at the beginning of a paragraph.
- Once you're happy with the image and the text, placement, be sure to click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page to save your work. If you're working on a page for a long time, it's a good idea to save your work periodically.
